I’m Vinita Velhal, and I’ve been a California resident for the past 15 years. My art journey started when I was a child and I drew my first Lotus. My school art teacher appreciated my art and made me participate in many exhibitions and art shows. Although I ended up graduating as an engineer, I have always maintained my passion for art. In stressful times art has provided me so much relief and healing. My science background has helped me not getting scared of trying any medium. Its just like doing another experiment. I have mostly self learnt art by visiting exhibitions and art shows, observing other artists’ work, getting inspiration online and experimenting on my own. I have worked in a variety of mediums including watercolors, acrylics, oils, inks, colored pencils, and pastels. I’ve always enjoyed making portraits, but California’s scenic beauty inspires me to paint landscapes and incorporate more nature into my art.
