Panama Bay: Jarold Cadion - East Bay Portrait Artist using coffee as a medium.

Panama Bay: Jarold Cadion - East Bay Portrait Artist using coffee as a medium.

Jarold Cadion - East Bay Portrait Artist using coffee as my medium. I graduated from San Diego State with a BA in Graphic Designs. During that period I took fine art classes and fell in love with painting. Around 2016 I was uninspired and not doing much with my work so I challenged myself to paint 365 Portraits in 365 Days. That project made me learn how to use watercolors and gave me an insight about how I would paint portraits.

Around 2018 I was invited to the San Francisco Coffee Festival as an artist. From then I stop using watercolors and acrylics and have been using coffee as my main medium in my artwork. Because there are no tutorials online or books on how to paint with coffee I have been experimenting and learning as I go on how to control coffee as a medium. My goal is to push the medium to the best of my abilities and be at a point where I can teach others how to paint with coffee.

Ellarin Baylon showing at Ryan's Automotive

Ellarin Baylon showing at Ryan's Automotive

Hello!! My name is Ellarin Baylon, I am an aspiring artist currently studying studio art to pursue my passion to share art with the world. My main art style of choice is Abstract Expressionism with skills in many other art forms such as portraiture, realism, and printing. I have loved drawing since I was little and started to take it more seriously during Covid when I, like us all, had nothing else to do. I focused on portraiture at the time and got very good. Even though abstract art is now my go-to, I originally didn’t understand it until I tried it for myself. Abstract Expressionism finally gave me the freedom of expression I have always sought. I am inspired by the patterns and repetition I have noticed in nature as well as what is created by man as a means of trying to make sense of the world around me. I create mostly nonobjective art since it lets me express myself without any boundaries or expectations. Abstract Expressionism has helped me cope with the uncertainties of life and has become a meditative practice for me since I create in a flow state with little to no prior intentions. I make a piece based on how I feel at that moment, what I have been through, and the ideas about where I may be headed. I use the freedom a blank canvas gives me to be bold, make mistakes, and take risks. While the colors and shapes all have a personal meaning, I encourage you as the viewer to make your own interpretation based on your own life experiences.
